ADME Studies (GLP and Non-GLP)
ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion) studies are conducted in rodents and non-rodents housed in metabolism cages and usually conducted in the early stages of the drug discovery process. The data collected from these studies are necessary to determine if the compound is a good candidate to move forward, as well as obtaining ADME data necessary to proceed to clinical trials. Non-GLP ADME studies use a minimum number of animals and the data are often used to screen test articles or provide information necessary to proceed to a more definitive ADME study.
